University of Vermont (UVM) floodplain researchers Dr. Rebecca Diehl and Dr. Kristen Underwood, along with their students, will host a research open house at the Cota Ballfields along Lewis Creek in Starksboro. The team has established a research station at the property in recent years that captured impacts of the recent historic flooding.  Come hear about their field-based efforts to verify flood dynamics, and learn about on-going science, management, and policy work to improve resilience to climate change by restoring floodplain and wetland function. We will showcase floodplain and river sensors used to record floodwater stages and an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler used to measure streamflow. The UVM Spatial Analysis Lab will also be on hand to demonstrate the operation of their drones for rapid flood response and for collection of imagery and lidar-based topography.
Please RSVP to Rebecca.Diehl@uvm.edu if you would like to attend the open house.
